Established in 1924, St Theresa’s R.C. Primary School has proudly served the Sydenham community of Durban for nearly a century. We are committed to a holistic, learner-centred approach, nurturing every student from Grade R to 7 to achieve their full potential in a faith-based environment.

To provide a holistic approach to teaching and learning, rooted in our Catholic heritage and the principle that every learner is central to the educational process.
Celebrating 100 Years
Founded in 1924 by the Augustinian Order of Holy Catholic Sisters, we celebrate a Jubilee year in our rich history of community service and faith-based education.
Foundation to Senior Phase
We cater for students across the primary school spectrum, offering classes from Grade R (Reception) through to Grade 7, ensuring a seamless educational journey.
Our Rich History
St Theresa’s R.C. Primary School is situated in the suburb of Sydenham in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The school was established in **1924** by the Augustinian Order of Holy Catholic Sisters. Our first principal was Sister Cecilia, who established the school to serve the then so-called Coloured community.
We operate as a Section 14 school on private property, upholding high standards in terms of our norms and practices. We are proud of our current enrollment of over 600 learners, supported by a dedicated staff of 16 SGB educators.
Educational Philosophy
Our entire approach is **holistic**, deeply rooted in our motto: **’God is our Light’**. Our aim is to provide a balanced, comprehensive education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of every child.
We employ a **learner-centred** teaching method, ensuring that education is engaging, relevant, and tailored to the individual needs of our students.
